Did you see those new Futurama bumps? Adult Swim really wants to support it. I hope this gets FOX's attention.

I saw one about a week ago. It had a gold sort of background, with FUTURAMA in white, hollow letters. Also had an outline of Fry. I'll check out the one tonight.

i saw that one as well.  i thought i was on a different channel at first.

however, they have been doing "dedicated" futurama bumps since they started airing the show... the only one i can think off right now is the server casing still.  the top has the [adult swim] and the bottom server has FUTURAMA.

I saw that too!  It's like Futurama is loved by Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, and hated by FOX.

Yeah, I saw the new bumps too. It's nice to see that Adult Swim still cares for the show enough to make it new bumps.

Yeah, they are awesome. They come on the Saturday night airings. It's really cool how they've hidden things again in these. The previous ones tire refers too had futurama and adult swim hidden somewhere. In these, you'll notice things such as the Fry outline in gold previously mentioned.

Although its not getting much publicity like on Fox, I personally like it being on Adult Swim rather than Fox.  I can't explain why but if I were to have a program hosting my favorite show, i'd choose AS over Fox's thursday night block.

Yeah, but the only problem is that when it had its Thursday block, new episodes were coming out every week. It's definately not worth it.

I guess. But I'd hate to see Futurama get big and popular and have Fox get all the respect and good thaings that come from it after they gave the show the axe early.

I saw them too! Has anyone seen the little comic-like things they had a little while back? I think it had like Leela and Bender doing CPR on this dude.

That was the "Old School" week, where they did the old "all kids out of the pool" bumps, and those (which I thought was cool, and I gave the attention to detail on the defibrillation charges a thumbs up[/medical nerd]).  These new ones are on Saturday nights, and they're really cool ... not sure what style they're done in, but I'm sure they copied/homaged someone.  By the way, I wrote in to their B&W Bumps thread, so you might see this very name on TV tonight!

I feel really stupid for asking, but could anyone tell me what those bumps are? I've tried googling, but no luck so far.

Adult Swim is on Cartoon Network... It comes on at night, when the little kiddies are tucked in asleep so their young ears won't hear the language of our wonderful show. The Bump thingies... Well, they... how the heck do I explain this now...

I'm just wondering, why is it called Adult Swim?

It made me think that Futurama was being shown on a porn channel for a while...  :laff:

Nope. [adult swim] is just what it sounds like. All the young children have been having fun watching cartoons all day long, now it's time for the kids to leave so mature people can do what they want, be that watch Futurama or do water aerobics.

They are just graphics and text advertising shows.  They might show neat pictures of the characters (like the new bumps in question), or pimp out some various thing (for example, they once had a text bump to advertise for Scion), and are usually accompanied by music - usually either jazzy or ethereal.  I'll see if I can find some piccies of any of them later today.

So it's on TV? Not something you can actually, well, touch? And it comes during eps, or is in the commecial break? Right, sorry, too many questions. Curiosity get the better of me. A pic of it would be nice to see, though  :)

I wish I had Cartoon Network so I could know what the hell you guys are talking about! I had it on satellite before though (about six months ago), but I can't recall any Adult Swim.. It wasn't listed in the TV-guide either.
I’m with AsaB on this one: We demand pictures!

They come during commercial breaks. I looked for pictures awhile back on google when I first posted in this topic, but couldn't find any. The first one is a yellow/gold picture of NNY with the PE ship with a neon outline of Fry's face to the left. The second is a yellow background with a Bender bobble-head with it's shadow casted over FUTURAMA. The third is Bender's head outline with some 50's pictures faded in the background. The last one is the PE ship flying over the ocean, with Futurama above it casting a shadow on the ocean. Bender's angry eyes are in the background as the sky. All the bumps are monochromatic or stick to a warm/cool color theme. I'll look for some more pictures, because they're much cooler than they sound with just one quick sentence.

Ok, I think I'm getting it now, thanks Procyon  :D So, it's basically a cool ad for the show, then? It sounds cool. But I'm still demanding pictures!

Basically, they're buffers between show and commercial. Not only do they have bumps for the shows, they also have bumps for Adult Swim in general:
Truck Bump

Or reference a show:
Zorak (Brak character) Bump

Genre specific:
Frequently used anime bump

Sorry I couldn't find any grabs of the new bumps ... which is a shame, because I'd like to have those as wallpapers.  But you get the idea ofwhat a bump is and looks like.

edit:Fix0red, because I fux0red the UBB in a big way, and because the umpteenth time is the charm.

(Agh, the l33t sp34k makes my brain hurt!) >_<
Also, to clarify, bumps are pretty similar to Powerpoint slides. At least, that's what they remind me of.

Thanks for the pics, Zoidberg227, they cleared things up loads. I think the main thing that confused me is that fact you call it 'bumps'. Somehow that doesn't strike me as the best descriptive word for these things. But oh well  :D

It's about the only channel that does. Also, I think that it was [as] themselves that coined the word "bump," but I'm not entirely sure.
