I've noticed that Fox is advertising the premiere episode of the Simpsons but haven't seen ads for the new season of Futurama yet - are they killing it off ? Worse yet - are they gonna alternate Sunday nights with "Mrs.Doubtfire" and baseball for the next five years ?

Umm, the premiere of Futurama isn't until December 9th.  The Simpsons' is just around the corner.  THAT might explain away your question.

Jeez ! 9 December ! - I get the impression Fox doesn't have a whole of interest in this project anymore. Well, at least I'll get to watch such fine programming as Ally McMeal, When Anthrax Attacks ! and World's Deadliest Executions. Otis, thanks for "howdy" ! I was posting at another Futurama site but they haven't had any new threads since June so.... This seems like a very active and insightful board - I've already had a blast reading some of your forum's older posts.

I don't know, even those five months were pretty shakey, what with fox giving Family Guy the sunday/8:30 time slot.

I'd say the beginning of season two was the only time when Fox handled the show with class.

Uh hello? Haven't you seen the awesome website fox is making for futurama? If Fox wanted to help Futurama out, they would give a decent timeslot, and put 1 or 2 reruns on each week, besides the new one. That way people would gain more exposure to the show. Generate a following.

It's frustrating to see Fox sink so much $$$$ into crap like "Grounded for Life", "Temptation Island", "The Bernie Mac Show" and "Ally McBeal" and then watch 'em dump on some really original stuff like "The PJs" (I'm sorry but I thought it was funny - "SHUT UP YA DAMNED STUPID CRACKHEAD !", "We were playin' Star Gang Wars.", "It's part of their community reach-around program.", "There's cops everywhere - it ain't safe to be outside.", "I had 32 confirmed kills and you gonna tell me I can't teach health !?!&quot ;) and "Family Guy" had its moments ; "...and I'll bet YOU lost your virginity to a mechanical bull !", "...though they tried to defeat me they can all just freakin' eat me". The way Fox previewed "Futurama" in '99 I really thought they would support it more. Gotta admit, the level of traffic on this board is incredible - makes me think "Futurama" may just have a shot at life.

I liked the PJs & Family Guy, too. Different, & good gags. The animation industry's about as dead as it was in 1985 these days. Be thankful for Futurama & The Simpsons.

When I was at the SanDiego Comic Con @ the futurama forum....I think it was Matt or maybe one of the other producer/writers, said that the Fox higher ups "just didn't get" Futurama.....too many in jokes?? Futurama is one of the funniest shows on TV. If fox does dump them, maybe they can pull a Buffy??

TV execs not 'getting jokes'?? They're too busy with their shrinks & attorneys trying to make ends meet with their 4th divorce to be bothered with 'humor'. They don't have the free time like we do to appreciate humor. They're in hell.

If Fox decides to drop Futurama, will some other channel be able to pick it up?

I hope so. Heck if we all gave a little money we could start our own TV network and show only shows we like  :D

They won't cancel Futurama as long as we're all around.  If they do, we can just raise Cain until they bring it back.  Simple as that.  I doubt they will, anyway.

Or just take control over one of the Fox affiliates. No-one'd notice it was missing anyway.

It's weird how FOX mistreats Futurama even though it wins award after award, like 2 Annies this weekend, beating Simpsons in one category even...

I hope another channel picks up Futurama, cause Fox seems to think that 'Malcom in the Middle' is the greatest show ever (It's not, guys!  Get a clue!).  If they promoted Futurama half as much as they promote that one, Futurama could easily become the next Simpsons.

Damn you, Malcom.  Give up thy coveted timeslot, so that a more worthy show can take thy place!

Futurama used to be on an 7:30 timeslot CST before Malcolm came along. I have no probs watching it at 6 since I don't work Sundays anyway. But you see, we have this thing in America called the NFL, and they're showing like 7 weeks of it, so all us Americans would have to sit on our butts waiting or rummaging our house for those recorded videotapes. I myself don't know if my brother had my year-old tape with A head in the Polls. I'd torture him if he records Arthur on it.

Part of me tinks that Adult Swim might be the perfect place for Futurama. Hey, if they could bring "Home Movies" and "Baby Blues" back from the dead...

Adult Swim would be a great place for the show.  Although, I don't know WHY they brought back "Baby Blues".  It is great to see "Home Movies" back though.

I enjoyed baby blues.

I don't think a cable channel could handle Futurama's price tag.  Also jumping ship doesn't mean Futurama will get better treatment.  Look how  ABC handled The Clerks, NBC on God, the devil and Bob, UPN  with Dilbert.   The PJs (great show) and The Critic (even better) left their mother station only to wither away  :(

I laugh when the PJs moved with the already homogenously themed comedies of the WB. It was a pretty good show though. The Critic was good back in its NBC days. It was the only thing that could match The Simpsons back then.

Eh. Baby Blues wasn't really renewed, they are just airing a bunch of episodes that WB never felt like showing. And Home Movies is a cheapass squiggly/flash show. I doubt cable could afford Futurama.
