Hello everyone!
The only reason I joined this forum is because I have something really cool. This will be the only message I post, and it is a good one.

I am a classic game collector and I was looking at one of my Simpsons games Manuals and was startled of what I found.

I am also a HUGE fan of Futurama, but I have nothing else to post... so as the professor would say "So long..."

Check this out: (See something I see???) http://www.gamestop.com/common/images/lbox/910466b.jpg

It actually does look bit like zoidberg, could be possible he was desinged after something like that.

Interesting if true.

Most likely a coincidence, though.  I mean, the general idea (e.g. Lobsterman) is the same, but...

I'm more interesed in that guy in the foreground. He reminds me of Lrrr, or generally any Omicronian.

They actually look remarkably different considering.  If they're similar at all, its because there's really only so many ways you can draw a mutated crab/lobster creature in the Groening art style.

Still interesting to see though.

I think this just proves that Greoning isn't as creative as we all thought he was.

Not at drawing no, but he'd readily admit to that.

In terms of actually creating characters and concepts, and even more so just creating hilarious material, I think he's still basically genius.  Good drawings are what animators are for.

It just shows that Groening is more efficient at recycling character designs than we all thought he was.

Actually Groening probably didn't know of/remember the cover and certainly didn't draw it.  It would have been drawn by one of the animators that would usually handle images for promos, merchandise, etc (by at least one account Groening didn't even originate the "Matt Groening" signature that goes on each image).  They drew it in the Groening style, just as the Futurama animators drew Zoidberg in the Groening style.  Hence the similarity.

Not Groening then, the animators.  Whatever.

And it probably wasn't intentional.  Groening style characters all look pretty similar anyway.  The guy in the foreground does look a lot like Lrrr, though.

Great find, the character link is subtle, but it's there. This might belong better in character board, though.

I know you were joking around, PazuzuJr, but I just wanted to make it clear that that would actually be a terribly bad idea...it would only encourage people to do those things more. There's a reason we don't want those things.  :)

Hmmm.  The crab kind of looks like Zoidberg.  And you said it was from 1992, and Matt Groening probably didn't have the idea for Futurama yet back then.

I could see the comparisions, though.  I doubt that's what Zoidberg and Lrrr were originally going to look like, though.  Anyway, thanks for sharing that with us.

Nobody was accusing you of spamming.
...until now...

You bumped a two-year-old thread just to say "very interesting".
Not only did you not give any reason for such a bump, but your post didn't even contain any actual information or opinion at all.

Please use better judgement.

I guess my magic wand is broken  oh well.

It's probally true (about the fake account) now i think about it (I've been as dumb as fry) But the term 'bump' along with things like 'spam' 'flame' ... are used on all forums, i knew what most of them ment when seen in context when i joined PEEl and this is the only forum i've been on. (well only one that i've stuck with for over a week anyway  :p)

Now to fix that wand...

Jesus, Im not saying their twins but you can easily tell they are very similar and share the same basic structure. The shape of the head, nose and the glasses. But Fansworth just looks like a really old and wrinkly version of him. But using your logic that top pic of Zoidberg and Lrr also look nothing like their intended characters, But they do share similarities just like Farnsworth and Frink.

In fact the only thing zoidberg and that crab like thing have in common is the claws and the fact that their crustations. But Frink and Farnsworth have a similar shaped head, nose, glasses and the fact that they are bot excentric scientists.
